About Ru

I’m Ru, an Integrative Psychotherapist. Psychotherapy supports both the processing of distressing experiences and the development of self-actualisation and insight. It offers a space to explore the inner world and gain clarity on how to engage with life.

My approach is grounded in attachment and developmental perspectives, as well as systems and psychodynamic theories. I am guided by trauma-informed and somatic principles, recognising that our bodies hold valuable insights into our inner experiences. I incorporate somatic practices within my sessions.

My work is shaped by a lineage of deeply inspired thinkers. Somatic practitioners such as Prentis Hemphill, Resmaa Menakem, and Kai Cheng Thom; trauma specialists including Peter Levine, Pat Ogden, and Janina Fisher; and systemic theorists like Angela Davis and Nancy McWilliams have all significantly influenced my practice.

I have a background as a Sex & Consent Educator, particularly in exploring sexuality, consent and sexual issues. I am queer and have experience working with LGBTIQA+ individuals, including those who exist outside gender binaries.

I’ve previously trained in Kinesiology and Reiki Level 2. While I don’t use touch in my practice, my approach is informed by bodywork principles.
